In ancient Ireland, and Britain, wolves were very much a part of the landscape. As was the Pictish, or Celtic art form. Wolves were featured in the mythology of the tribal Celts long before the Christians arrived. An example would be the story of ‘Morrigan’ the phantom queen who does battle with Cu Chulainn. She transforms into a huge red wolf, in order to overcome the foe. There are many other examples of Wolf in the art form, often interwoven with the iconic knot work. I have chosen to integrate the Wolf with a Heart. The Wolf heads are looking in opposite directions, keeping guard. The Heart symbolizes what is the heart of the Wolf, which is; tenacity, intelligence, and strength.
